Network and disaster recovery
expertise that leaves nothing to chance
Data Systems & Games and the Georgia
Lottery
Since 1993, DS&G has helped assure
that people in any part of Georgia can purchase a lottery
ticket. As the computer back-up data center for GTECH, the
primary supplier of systems and services for the Georgia
Lottery, we handle a variety of tasks involved in running
the games, troubleshooting potential network problems and
ensuring swift disaster recovery in the event of a problem.
The Georgia Lottery Corporation mandates
that lottery games remain fully operational from 6:00 a.m.
to midnight, with exorbitant 'per-minute' fines levied for
any unexpected system failure. We're pleased to have maintained
an outstanding 'uptime' rate throughout more than 3,000
days and nights of this operation.
Lottery services include:
o Full duplication of primary data
center operations, as 'back up'
o Network monitoring, troubleshooting and disaster recovery
o Around the clock operations
o Processing of daily wagers, and reporting
o Quality assurance testing for new games prior to launching
online
o Support from knowledgeable, well-trained team
When data accuracy means life
or death
Data Systems & Games and the Georgia
Bureau of Investigation (GBI)
One innocent data entry error on
an individual's criminal record can follow that person for
life - or inadvertently allow a criminal to escape the proper
punishment. Knowing the potential danger of relying on imperfect
data, the GBI sought a partner to oversee data entry operations
of one of its departments, the Georgia Crime Information
Center (GCIC). DS&G has been that trusted partner since
1996.
The GBI commissioned DS&G to
transcribe Final Disposition Report forms (also known as
Offender Based Tracking System forms) using the appropriate
criminal codes, then employ computerized data entry to create
a computer tape and/or diskette for subsequent data upload
to the GCIC centralized Criminal History Database.
As part of our commitment to the
GBI, DS&G is required to produce a minimum of 40,000
documents per month - all of varying length and complexity
- with an error rate no higher than 3%. We've exceeded the
GBI's expectations by maintaining an error rate of less
than 1%, and we continue to strive for zero. Nonetheless,
our record is exemplary.
In addition to producing this massive
volume of documents - along with multiple reports for management
- DS&G also handles data entry for the GBI's Georgia
Uniform Crime Reports and Family Violence Reports
both
of which are forwarded to the FBI for their use.
By having a dedicated partner in
DS&G, the GBI helps assure that Georgia's criminal records
are among the most accurate, reliable and up to date in
the nation.
